Light creeps up to the top of my ceiling
I run outside and the mailbox is full
Night sets in between cacophony of feeling written in the stories you told
Fear creeps up when I shroud myself in worry as your words fall a standard too high for me
Now in dread i'll find a way to hurry to remove myself entirely
Light creeps up to the top of my ceiling but now the light comes from a ghost
I know your words still sound appealing but I detest the letters I wrote
Anecdotes seem out of reach
I won't write back because I'm scared
If I wait for you to write back to me will you think that I just don't care?

Life wasted gazing at the same blank canvas
Raising discomfort and fear at making your presence known
Control is burdened onto you; persistently scarred of what to paint
The silence screams from nothing new
and continues to punctuate your days
After everything the pallets dried
Reminder that I’m terrified
(Plan your words accordingly for what you know you’ll never face)
Then run out of art supplies before I even get to try
(Words fail in opportunity so how will I ever change) x2

I am not relieved to have received your insight that this is temporary
I do not believe in the beauty that this is just a vessel
It can not convey what I have weighed in to be myself
So I am still displayed to be the same to anyone else
I went out last week and tried to be an image I’d painted onto canvas
I felt disconnected and formed a dread that there’d never be cohesion
It was my ideal of I how I feel I’m meant to be portrayed
But when I saw my face I had to admit that nothing changed
